Benefits

A self-cleaning façade cuts cleaning costs, takes people off the outside of the building and keeps every pane clear, including the solar glass that powers it. A 10,000 m² façade is cleaned in about 476 minutes.

What does a self-cleaning façade change?

  • Keeps solar glass producing

Cleans photovoltaic and solar glass in the façade and its shading, so it keeps generating the power the building counts on.

  • No contractors to book

The building runs its own cleaning, independent of external cleaning services and their schedules.

  • Lower cleaning cost

No cleaning contractor, cradle hire or rope access, so running costs stay low.

  • One button

The whole façade is cleaned at the touch of a button, or on a schedule set in the building management system.

  • Safe at any height

Nobody works at height to clean the glass, on any floor of any building.

  • Privacy and security

No cradles or operatives outside occupied offices, apartments or hospital wards.

  • Cleans what others cannot

Reaches glass behind shading fins, decorative elements and fixed external shading.

  • Automatic when needed

Integrated humidity and rain sensors can start a cleaning cycle automatically.

Cleaner glass, more solar power

Photovoltaic glass only powers a building while it is clean. On flat and tilted solar glass, dust can cost over 10% of the output in a year.

IKU Windows cleans photovoltaic and solar glass in the façade and its shading fins the same way it cleans ordinary glazing, at the touch of a button.
